MOOD BOARD + INSPIRATIONS

"Designed by Stacey Cambre, Cica & Fefi is a resort wear collection for the summer season. Inspired by her grandparents, Ilona and Frances Brem, Cica & Fefi balances a mix of Hungarian folk and coastal elements with a late '60s flare. This collection highlights the importance of sustainable fashion by focusing on the longevity and versatility of garments. Each garment is designed to mix and match across the collection, with all garments being reversible in contrasting warm and cool color schemes. The designs also contain removeable or transformative elements to prolong the life of the collection. Each piece is unique through its embellishments, such as hand-crafted embroidery, floral appliqué, and beading techniques, thus making a statement in both aesthetics and environmental impact."

Target Market:
Women
- 25-35 age demographic

Key Collection Features:
- Each piece is reversible: One side is warm colors & one side is cool colors. Each piece contains buttons on both sides of the garment to allow it to reverse.

- Hand embroidery is present throughout the line. The warm side of the garments feature more folk & floral embroidery to represent Hungary, while the cool toned sides feature coastal themed embroidery.

- All pieces also contain flat beads and flower appliqués. Flat embellishments were chosen to prevent the garments from being uncomfortable against the body, since the appliqués and beading are also present on both sides of the garments.

-Many elements across the collection are removable as well, such as the sleeves, trains, and overlay pieces.

- All waistbands are embroidered with "cica + fefi" on both sides of the garments in place of labeling.

- Diverse & Inclusive Sizing: this collection contains both missy & plus sizing, as I believe people of all sizes deserve to feel confident and beautiful.

Please note: Due to personal budget & timing for this collection, polyester fabrics were chosen. In an ideal situation, biodegradable fibers would have been sourced to further prevent waste at the end of the garment's life cycle. The goal of longevity still remains with the reversible and transformative features across the collection.

LOOK ONE: PEACHY & BEACHY

ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATION

This look is the foundation for the entire collection. I designed a similar version of this in my first design class and held onto the inspiration. The original design can be found on the Illustration page.

The bodice was created with flat pattern and the darts were manipulated between the scallop panels to assist in fit. The bodice contains a boned interlining and buckram along the scalloped edges to allow the curves to appear more smooth.

The look was designed for the runway, so it does contain shorts underneath. While they are not shown in photos, they are the same design as the shorts present in look two.

The skirt is a 1/2 circle skirt that was divided into 10 panels and buttons down center back. The scallops also contain a buckram interlining along the hem.

The back of this skirt also has magnets sewn into a muslin interior lining. This design feature allows the skirt to be reversed on a runway without have to re-button right away.

The initial chiffon sleeves on the design were traded out for magnetic beaded sleeves to bring more versatility to the line and to allow the skirt to be reversed during LSU's annual fashion show. The sleeves can also be removed.

All pieces are reversible as shown.

LOOK TWO: SWEET SUNSHINE

ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATION

I wanted to have a logo piece in my collection, so that is where the inspiration came from for the bodice. The sleeves are removable and reversible. They hook onto clear buttons that are on both the self and lining sides of the bodice. The fit on this bodice was primarily manipulated into the center front circle. Straps were also added to prevent the garment from falling down, since the waist of the bodice sits loosely. Buckram interlining was added to the circle and the top of the bodice to create a smooth appearance.

The shorts are sailor-style and button on both sides of the garment. The overskirt was originally designed into a flared skirt and then divided into each panel. The overskirt can be reversed or removed from the look as displayed.

All pieces are reversible as shown.

LOOK THREE: GONE COASTAL

ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATION

This jumpsuit look consists of two different pieces that button together to create one seamless look. The bodice contains 4 loops on each edge of the front and back cut-outs, as well as a waistband to assist in it lining up with the pant waistband.

The pants have clear buttons on both the self and lining sides of the waistband, which can be seen in the photos above. The loops hook to these buttons on the inside of the garment when worn so they are not visible.

The pants button on both sides of the garment and contain chiffon godets.

Since the entire collection was designed to mix and match, the bodice can also be attached or worn with other skirts or shorts in the collection.

The sleeves hook to the bodice with clear buttons as well.

All pieces are reversible as shown.

LOOK FOUR: SEASIDE DREAM

ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATION

This look is the most extravagant in the collection and was designed to be the final look on the runway. The top overlay piece is removable to reveal a strapless princess bodice underneath. The train on the back is also removable and hooks onto either the self or lining side of the bodice with clear buttons. The buttons are not visible if the overlay is worn on top as displayed.

The skirt is a 1/2" circle skirt and contains a buckram interlining along the hem of the scallops to prevent them from collapsing.

All pieces are reversible as shown.

A hoop skirt was worn with the garment in the photos, but is not necessary in order to wear the garment.

LOOK FIVE: SUNNY SUMMERTIME

ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATION

Embroidered Hungarian vests are a large part of the historical culture of the country. I wanted to offer a modern approach to this garment I grew up wearing at annual Hungarian gatherings.

The vest and overskirt are removable. The top is a strapless princess bodice and the under skirt is a-line. All pieces reverse as shown.

LOOK SIX: POPSICLE PRINCESS

ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATION

THE CONVERTIBLE SKIRT JACKET

Above is a midi 1/2 circle skirt with faux pockets and pocket welts. The center back contains buttons on both the self and lining sides of fabric, thus making it reversible.
The skirt is removable from the look, revealing shorts underneath. The shorts button on both sides of the garment and contain buttons on both the self and lining sides of fabric to make them reversible. The same buttons apply to the bodice.
The skirt can then be flipped to the reverse side to unveil chiffon sleeves and a collar, thus transforming the look into a jacket. This jacket is the only piece in the collection to contain both cool and warm tones on the same side.
